“…a vote is a kind of prayer for the kind of world we desire for ourselves and for our children.”
— Sen. Raphael Warnock
The Multi-Faith ACTION Coalition supports faith communities that want to help voters register.
Voting our faith principles, especially in support of the most vulnerable, is an important way to reflect on our faith traditions.
So, here at MFAC, we are happy to support your faith community in getting members—and the public—registered to vote. Our vote can truly be a prayer when it reflects the moral guidance of our many traditions.
Deadlines Note: The deadline for registering to vote is Oct 21st – postmarked by Oct 21 for mailed registration cards and registering online by 11:59 pm on the same day.
We have the following available; just reach out to us, and we will arrange things with you:
- Instructions from the County Elections Office on registering voters – a brief training is essential
- Voter registration cards (let us know how many)
- A QR code placard to use for people who want to register online
Email contactmfac@gmail.com or call (925) 948-1300. Greg will be glad to help.
Engaging in the Public Square with Faith
As people of faith, we are called to be active participants in our communities and to work for the common good. This includes engaging in civic affairs and advocating for policies that promote justice and human dignity. At MFAC, we actively engage with public policies in support of reducing, mitigating, and ultimately eliminating poverty.
Our faith traditions provide us with rich sources of wisdom and guidance for engaging in the public square. Many Christian denominations, for example, teach that we have a responsibility to participate in the political process and to work for the common good. Other faith traditions also emphasize the importance of civic engagement and social responsibility.
There are many ways for people of faith to be active in civic affairs. We can:
- Vote in elections
- Contact our elected officials
- Join advocacy organizations like MFAC (sign-up here)
- Educate ourselves and others about important issues
- Volunteer our time and talents to support causes we care about
Our faith can be a powerful motivator for civic engagement. It can give us a sense of purpose and direction and help us see the world through others’ eyes. When we bring our faith to the public square, we can make a positive difference in the world.
The Multi-Faith ACTION Coalition supports people of faith in becoming active in civic affairs.
We offer a variety of resources and programs to help people of faith engage constructively in civic affairs. We also work to educate policymakers about the perspectives of people of faith on vital issues.
We believe that people of faith have a vital role in shaping the future of our communities and our world toward greater justice. So, we encourage you to join us in our efforts to promote civic engagement and social responsibility.
There are many ways we can make a difference in state and local policymaking which can alleviate poverty:
- Participate in board, council, and committee meetings on specific policies, many of which are available via Zoom
- Watch our calendar for events in our areas of interest, and click through to opportunities that interest you
- Follow the links we provide on our website to connect with local government, policy background information, and the many partners we collaborate with in this work.
We hope this post has inspired you to actively participate in your community. Together, we can make a difference!
