MLK Day event for healing, reflection and Justice

On January 20, 2025, at 1 pm, there will be an interfaith event for healing, reflection, and justice to recognize the continuing importance of the message of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The program will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1965 Colfax Street, Concord.

Event components:

  • Formal program ~ 90 minutes:
    • A pause for healing – drawing on our core beliefs to reconnect with meaning and purpose in this moment
    • A reading of MLK’s Letter from Birmingham Jail
    • Naming the challenges to mercy and justice in this moment
    • Call to Action: how are we called to respond?
  • Time to connect informally with other congregations, service organizations, and advocacy groups, ~ 90 minutes

This will be a shared moment of grounding ourselves for the work of mercy and justice in 2025. The program will include a full reading of his Letter from Birmingham Jail. Opportunities will be provided to connect with organizations seeking support and volunteers.
