The Health Care Task Force’s operating premise is that access to quality and safe physical and behavioral health care services is a basic human right. Our intent is to work with providers of care, elected representatives, government officials and members of the community to realize this mission.
Recent efforts include advocacy to support and expand access to services through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and sustaining Contra Costa CARES, a program which provides primary care health services to thousands of undocumented uninsured residents of our county. We have sponsored forums on ACA with our elected representatives and public health officials as well as hosted a Q&A session on understanding the healthcare crisis with Andy Slavitt, former Acting Administrator for the Centers Medicare and Medicaid Services.
We welcome new members who have an interest in healthcare, medical delivery systems, healthcare policy and services in Contra Costa County. Having a background in healthcare or health administration is a plus but not a requirement. We generally meet the first Monday of the month at 1:15 at Temple Isaiah in the library (945 Risa Road in Lafayette).
