1ST TRAINING IS THURSDAY, MAY 28 @ 10:00 AM
You are invited to join the
Multi-faith ACTION Coalition
in our campaign to make real change!
We are all in this together! That is a statement we hear so much these days. Do you believe it? The advocates of the Multi-faith ACTION Coalition believe it and have been talking about moving society to make policy change that embraces it. Will you join us? The pandemic has given us a chance to make real change!
Now more than ever advocacy is something people feel they can do while sheltering in place. The Multi-faith ACTION Coalition, during its six years of actions, has voiced the importance of challenging the social systems that are falling short of helping those in need.
The Covid-19 crisis is amplifying the cracks and huge holes in the safety net. We can use this time to spotlight the problems and call for real change with positive lasting effects.
What can be done?
As a community of faith, we hope to transform stories and data into an information base that would guide advocacy immediately to help those impacted, and after the crisis is over so we do NOT return to business as usual. Through this process we expect to uncover what issues will stimulate our faith community to become more involved in advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable folks.
Research: A key step in our campaign strategy is research. We need to understand the situation of all impacted people in Contra Costa and how the proposed government actions can be optimized to meet the crisis situation and uncover where systems failed and how to improve them going forward. We need volunteers who are willing to call and interview non-profit leaders, coalitions, government agencies, etc. to learn about: Who is falling between the cracks? Why? And what can be done?
The Multi-faith ACTION Coalition is providing “Research Action Training” (a quick one-hour online training) for any volunteer who wants to help with research. The training is simple and will provide participants with a script, list of questions to ask, and what to do next.
Discernment Process: We know we cannot work on everything at the same time. We believe through the research action process, we will, together, uncover higher priority issues, issues where our members have interest and passion and areas where we can have meaningful impact. The group will discern and decide what we will work on and what will receive attention of the Multi-faith ACTION Coalition.
