Actions in Sacramento provide some good news.

Governor Jerry Brown has signed several key pieces of legislation to help address issues people living in poverty and injustice face.  Thank you for taking the time to contact the Governor -- we are making a difference!

SIGNED: SB 54 - The California Values Act!!! It  forbids state and local law enforcement agencies from providing information to or acting as the deputies for federal immigration authorities. The bill also prohibits police and sheriff officers from inquiring about a person's immigration status.

SIGNED: SB 2 & 3 - Two funding bills-- SB 2, a document filing fee on real estate transactions which will raise $250 million a year for affordable housing and SB 3, a $4 billion housing bond that will go to voters in 2018.

SB 180 -- the Repeal Ineffective Sentencing Enhancements, RISE Act -- repealing the three-year sentence enhancements for most prior drug convictions.
SB 190 -- ending the regressive and racially discriminatory practice of charging administrative fees to families with youth in the juvenile system.
