Homeless Awareness In Our Community.

November is Homeless Awareness Month and National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 15th - 22nd) is just around the corner!  During the month of November, Contra Costa County will join national efforts to increase awareness and promote solutions to ending homelessness. Every night there are nearly 4,000 homeless men, women, and children in Contra Costa County.  We each play a part in ending homelessness in our community.

The Contra Costa County 2015 Homelessness Awareness Toolkit  is a great resource to learn more about what you can do in your congregation and your community.

Contra Costa Zero:2016 Update:       Our December 31st deadline for reaching Zero on veteran homelessness through the Zero:2016 campaign is fast approaching and we still have people to house!
Faith traditions teach us to be thankful for the abundance that God has given to us and to share that abundance with those among us who are in need.  We are also called to speak truth to power, and to work towards a more just society in which people are empowered to lift themselves out of poverty, hunger and homelessness.
We are calling on all faith communities to help identify landlords who may be willing to rent to the more than 60 veterans in our community right now who have housing subsidies and are still looking for housing.  If you are a landlord or know a landlord and would like to help, click here for more information and/or email leichd@gmail.com
