Governor Signs Tenant Protection Bill

For the 10 years before the law sunsets, AB 1482 that the Governor signed will:
Prohibit Rent-Gouging

Limits allowable annual rent increases to a maximum of 10%, or 5% + CPI (Consumer Price Index) if that is less than 10%.

Require Just Cause for Evictions

Protects tenants from being unjustly evicted by requiring that landlords provide in writing a reason, allowable by this bill, for the eviction.
