FALL NEWS . . .

The Multi-faith ACTION Coalition has much to report to you-- our advocates.  A key legislative ACTION was signed by the Governor, the Education Task Force and Racial Justice working group are looking for input, a Housing Security Fund has been launched, and our Thanksgiving Service is taking place on November 20th.  Please read on to learn more.

GOVERNOR SIGNS KEY LEGISLATION
Advocates of the Multi-faith ACTION Coalition wrote and called the Governor's office in support of AB 2406 regarding Junior Accessory Dwellings ordinances to add more affordable housing for vital workers and we succeeded -- he signed the bill and it has an urgency clause.  We now need to work with local cities to make this housing option more accessible.
MORE VOICES WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

The Multi-faith ACTION Coalition has been organized into five task forces and a working group and you could be part of one of them.

Racial Justice
Love thy neighbor is central to many faith teachings.  The Multi-faith ACTION Coalition has formed a working group around racial justice because all our neighbors are not being loved nor treated justly by our society.  We strive to work with others who have racial justice as their mission and add our voices demanding change.  Join this work by contact Rev. Will McGarvey eye4cee@gmail.com  or Doug Leich leichd@gmail.com

Education
The Education Task Force is now meeting at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Rd, Walnut Creek in Mullen Commons on the first Thursday of each month from 2:30-4:00.

They are looking at mandatory kindergarten, reducing absenteeism and increasing mental health support at schools as ways to help children living in poverty now improve their chances of a better life in the future.  Can you join the conversation and help identify public policies that need to be changed to help these children? Please contact MFAC if you want to join the Task Force.

Contra Costa County Housing Security Fund

If you could take one concrete, simple step to end homelessness in our community, would you do it?

There is something you can do and something your congregation can do.  Here it is:

Donate to the new Contra Costa Housing Security Fund, to help veterans, families and other individuals in our community to get through their final barrier to safe, affordable housing.

We hope you are willing to help raise funds for families who are just a credit check, application fee or security deposit away from getting housing. For some, the lack of just a small amount of money something as simple as a utility deposit prevents them from getting housing. Does your congregation want to help these brothers and sisters close this gap? With just a $100 donation, you can help a woman and her child or an elder to end their homelessness and get into housing.
WILL YOU JOIN US?  PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR FAITH LEADER WILL BE PARTICIPATING . .
