Contra Costa CARES is a proposed county-wide program that seeks to provide comprehensive primary health care coverage to low-income, remaining uninsured residents who do not otherwise qualify for Medi-Cal or Covered California.
At the May 12th budget hearing in Contra Costa County, Board of Supervisor John Gioia recommended that a hearing be scheduled in June or July for the Board of Supervisors (BOS) to have the opportunity to fully vet the Contra Costa CARES program. As the clock ticks down to the end of July with no hearing scheduled yet, it’s time the Board of Supervisors hear from advocates across the county that Contra Costa CARES must be prioritized!
The Multi-faith ACTION Coalition believes that access to quality and safe health care services is a basic human right. We support this plan to provide health care for those in our community who are denied. Please let the Supervisors know you do too.
If you already signed the petition sent out in May, then please share this email with others in your congregation. Share the link on your Facebook page. Take Further Action! Call the member of the Board of Supervisor who represents the district you live in and ask when the hearing for ContraCosta CARES will be held and urge their support for proposal.
Sample Script: Hi. My name is __________ and I live in [insert city]. I am calling to ask the Supervisor to support the Contra Costa CARES proposal to expand access to health coverage in Contra Costa County. A hearing was supposed to be scheduled in June or July for the Board to review the proposal, but it has not made the agenda yet. When will the hearing for the Contra Costa CARES proposal be held? Please make this hearing a priority.
