Task Force

The Multi-Faith ACTION Coalition has created a series of subgroups to study issues related to poverty. The groups have been meeting and pinpointing areas they would like to address. Each of the Task Forces is made up of individuals from various faith based organizations in Contra Costa County.

"Let's Feed the KIDS" project is to help feed children during the summer. It is a pilot project being done   with the Monument Crisis Center Summer Day Camp by Shell Ridge Community Church and  Congregation  B'nai Tikvah. The goal of the program is to provide 40 families with breakfast and dinner  by sending home  ingredients with the children. With the help of the two congregations, they are able to  send home a second  bag per week.

We encourage you to join us in our quest to make sure everyone in our community has food to eat.

 Education

 Health
We are a part of the Multi-Faith ACTION coalition and a committee of interested people who are committed to furthering the cause of seeing our less fortunate neighbors obtain access and services for both their physical and behavioral health care needs.

 To that end, we are

·           Researching the needs of low income people in the county

·           Matching these needs with the resources available

·           Assisting with access to those resources

·           Advocating for the resources necessary by promotion among our various faith congregations and  beyond.

Currently we have joined with other community agencies (Community Clinic Consortium, Healthy Richmond, Ensuring Opportunity and ACCE) in establishing a program called Contra Costa Cares.  This program provides primary health care for those in the county who are uninsured, including undocumented persons.

We welcome new committee members who are:

·      interested in the well-being of others

·      ready to put your head into creative brainstorming

·      ready to put your self into listening to the needs of the less-advantaged

·      ready to put your heart into advocacy.

Having a background in healthcare or health administration is a plus but not a requirement.

 Please join us!
